Generally I have realized that Open VPN is quite a complex and way more unreliable when trying to reach NAS from various locations compared to Quickconnect.
443/TCP shows error: Connection reset, restarting 443/UDP shows error: TLS Error: TLS key negotiation failed to occur within 60 seconds (check your network connectivity) TLS Error: TLS handshake failed When using standard config 1194/UDP through the same mobile hotspot I was able to connect Open VPN and reach NAS. Based the considerations above, I was trying to set it for 443/TCP and 443/UDP with no success ( - the port/protocol was changed in Synology Open VPN settings - port/protocol was opened in Synology Firewall - Open VPN config file was newly exported for respective port/protocol - port forwarding was setup in the router for NAS IP 443/TCP -> 443/TCP and same for the UDP Now I cannot establish Open VPN connection via mobile hotspot. So it is unlikely you can get access to NAS for example using the hotel Wi-Fi in the business trip. Having studied the topic on various sites I came to conclusion, that Open VPN on 1194/UPD is far from being universal, since often this port is blocked on public Wi-Fi hotspots and in corporate environment. Thanks! The idea of VPN inside VPN was aimed to overcome possible network restrictions of my employer.
